A Curiously Unusual Review of the Peaky Blinders

Currently at the 6th episode of the 2nd season

Thomas Shelby and his calm gaze combined by his suave attire has been the highlight of my week so far. I am really attached to it. The politics. The psychological roller coaster. Here, I will give you a new brand of magnifying glass to see the mighty Peaky Blinders.

For starters, let’s see the alarming love story of Tommy. He has had relations with Grace, Lizzie, and May. This is quite intriguing. I have come to think that it is perfectly natural for a man to want to have more than one female partner. Because, a man is a king of his own realm. A king needs variation, to keep his mental strength going. Without any variations, a man will face the worst situation possible: boredom. Boredom is the thing that kills people, not guns. To kill the boredom, man needs more than one woman in his life. This is a simple fact. Ask any man, and he will testify to this. Even though they might have made the decision to commit to one woman, deep inside his heart, he definitely wants the second woman. If not in this world, maybe in the next one, man will definitely want this desire to be met.

If I may symbolize each of Thomas’s women, Grace is the symbol of longing. He has never been able to have her by her side on a daily basis except for the short time she served at the bar. Other than that, she is a faraway muse of the heart.

Next one on the line is Lizzie. I don’t know what will happen in the season 3, 4, 5, or 6 yet, but so far, Lizzie is the symbol of transformation. Thomas helped Lizzie change from a prostitute into a noble secretary. And I can see why Thomas like her a lot.

Then, on comes May. She is the symbol of impermanence. She just happened to be a widow who was charmed by Thomas’s elegance. Thomas needed someone by his side, so the relation happened, but that’s it. Thomas doesn’t feel that May deserves his true attention and long-term endeavor. She reminds us about the wind, it passes for a while, it’s soothing for a while, and then it’s gone.
