Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (movie review)

Ferris would be my best friend if he existed in real life. This movie was such a joy to behold. It is authentically American, and releases the utmost happiness in you, even if it’s just for a little while.

So, Ferris is considered as sweet to his kind and loving parents. But to his headmaster and sister, he is a source of hate. The headmaster hates him because he always gets away with ditching school. He even hacked the school computer and decreased the number of his school abscence from 9 to 2. Meanwhile, the sister hates him because he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

That one special day, Ferris again decided to ditch school. He has prepared everything. A doll that is covered by his blankets. An audio recording of his sick sounds. So he calls his best friend Cameron, which were really kind of sick, to come over to his house. Then, Cameron makes a phony phone call to his headmaster as the father of Sloane, Ferris’ girlfriend, who is really beautiful. They told a lie about a death of Sloane’s grandmother. Or grandfather.

Ferris, Sloane, and Cameron together went to Cameron’s house. Ferris convinced Cameron to take his father’s open-ceiling, luxurious, red Ferrari. And they were off to see around the city of Chicago. They went to a fancy restaurant with a fake name. They went to a baseball game in the city’s stadium. They even joined the big parade in the boulevard. And Ferris outstandingly climbed to the stage and sang with lip-sync to The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout”. Everyone in the boulevard, even people inside their offices, danced to the song. USA flags are everywhere.

Yes, if you want to be inspired and amazed and amused at the exact same time, you really need to watch this movie. If you have already watched it, you might want to watch it again. And again. And again. And again.
